About Me

My name is Matthew and I am a second year PhD student at the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at University of California, Irvine. My background is primarily in interaction design (Lo/Hi fideilty prototyping, wireframing, persona building, usability testing). However I also have technical skills (Javascript, Python, HTML/CSS, R, SQL, APIs, Sensors) and research skills (Qualtrics, Interviewing, Note Taking) that I have developed during my PhD through working in the Personal Informatics Everyday (PIE) Lab. My research interests at the moment are primarily in HCI, Ubiquitous Computing & Health Informatics.

Currently, I am a member of the PIE Lab advised by Daniel Epstein. We are working on a research project to understand how to best support smartwatch owners in customizing their health data and smarwatch faces.
